Alastair Cook: Graham Onions has done 'everything' we've asked

England captain Alastair Cook has admitted that Graham Onions has done "everything" the Three Lions have asked of him as he awaits to find out if he has been selected to play in his home Test.

Graham took nine wickets for Durham in their last LV= County Championship game against Middlesex at Lords, including a seven-wicket haul in the first innings.

The 30-year-old was dropped for the third Test at Old Trafford but was recalled for the match at the Emirates Durham International Cricket Ground and is now in a three-way fight with Chris Tremlett and Tim Bresnan for the final seamers spot.

Cook said: "Graham Onions has done very well this year again in County Cricket, he has pushed his name right into the squad as he has been.

"He was left out for a couple of games recently but he has gone back to Durham into four day cricket and has taken a lot of wickets.

"He's doing everything we're asking him to do. In our eyes the series is very much alive we want to win the series and not just retain the Ashes, so we're going to pick our best eleven to try and win this game."
